Abstract
MEGAKARYOCYTES IN IDIOPATHIC THROMBOCYTOPENIC PURPURAAlterations of the number and morphology of megakaryocytes are well known to occur in this disease.36 37 38 39 It is the general experience37 38 39 that, in most cases, the megakaryocytes are increased in number, with a relative increase of immature forms and presence of signs of cytoplasmic and nuclear degeneration, vacuolization, lack of granular development and deficient platelet budding around the cytoplasmic ridge. Findings on phase contrast40 and electron microscopy41 are in agreement with those observed with the use of ordinary staining technics. Contrasting points of view, however, exist,42 , 43 and I believe that this is probably due to . . .
