Abstract
A simple and reliable method of producing good quality superconducting thick films of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 with zero resistance above 87 K is presented. The method consists of dipping, spraying or painting a superconducting precursor ink on a substrate (of arbitrary dimensions) with subsequent sintering in flowing oxygen at temperatures close to the melting temperature of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7. Superconducting transition temperatures (T c ) as a function of substrate material, firing temperature and nature of the precursor ink are discussed. BeO was found to be the best substrate for our process.
