Abstract
The adsorption of Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) ions on iron hydroxide(am) was measured from aqueous electrolyte solution as a function of temperature. Experimental results were analysed by the Langmuir adsorption equation. Adsorption was found to increase with increasing temperature. On the average two H(I) ions were released to the solution phase per metal ion adsorption on the surface of the iron hydroxide(am). The adsorption maxima of Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) ions on the iron hydroxide(ao) surface was found to decrease in the series: Cu(II) Co(II) Ni(II).
