Abstract
For pt.I see ibid., vol.14, p.1457 (1981). It is shown that a magnetic field lowers the transition temperature to an incommensurate charge-density wave state. A small magnetic field has very little effect on the wavelength l of the charge-density wave. A larger magnetic field shifts l towards that for the commensurate state. For a system with a band which is not nearly half filled the magnetic field has to exceed a critical value before l is altered at all. Keywords
