Malacoplakia of the Testis and Epididymis

Abstract
A case of macrophagic-inclusion epididymo-orchitis (malacoplakia) is reported. The associated changes were an abscess of the testis caused by E. coli and thrombotic vascular occlusions of the spermatic cord. The culture of E. coli from the suppurative lesion may well be significant as a possible initiative or contributing cause of malacoplakia. We postulate that phagocytosed nuclei of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and other nuclear debris become a nidus of the characteristic intracytoplasmic calcospherules.
