Abstract
Deterministic chaos is observed in the passive Q-switching pulsation of a CO2 sequence-band laser. The period-doubling bifurcation to chaos is reproduced with good fidelity by use of our rate-equation model. It is revealed that the vibration-to-vibration energy transfer process in the ν3 mode gives an appreciable change in the chaotic behavior of the sequence-band oscillation. Keywords
