Abstract
A method is described to isolate fumonisin B1 (FB1) from corn cultured for 18 days at 25°C withFusarium moniliforme. Cultured corn was extracted with aqueous methanol and purified with XAD-2 column chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). About 450 mg of FB1 were obtained from 800g cultured corn. Its identity was established by fast-atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry, and infrared spectrum and nuclear magnetic spectrum. Its purity was estimated to be 95% by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).ReferencesKeywords
