Abstract
467 single women, 280 married women, and 218 married men (all teachers) were asked what they would "most like to be doing ten years from now." In general, there was a shift from a marriage to a vocational orientation at the age of 30. Other differences among the various age and marital status groups are discussed, together with implications for research concerning changing values in the mature and elderly population.
