Abstract
Two middle-aged women had benign gastroenteric fistulas in the absence of previous gastric operations. They were both aspirin abusers and both were treated with onestage resection of the fistula and involved adjacent organs. To our knowledge, these two patients bring to 24 the cases reported in the English literature. Over one third of them had histories which included the use of steroids and aspirin. In this review article it appears that aspirin and steroid users with gastric ulcers are vulnerable to the formation of spontaneous gastroenteric fistulas. Keywords
