THE RELATIVE RESISTANCE OF VARIOUS FRAGARIA CHILOENSIS CLONES TO PHYTOPHTHORA FRAGARIAE

Abstract
Fragaria chiloensis (L.) Duchesne clones collected from various locations in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia were screened for relative resistance to a composite of races of Phytophthora fragariae Hickman, the causal organism of the red stele disease of strawberry. Of 88 clones screened, 25 showed greater resistance than any of the cultivars which have been used in breeding for red stele resistance.
