ESR study of pure and mixed crystals of ammonium sulfate

Abstract
NH+3 radicals in pure (NH4)2SO4 and mixed crystals of (NH4)2SO4 and K2SO4 were studied by ESR. The temperature dependence of the flipping angle for NH+4 ion and the bonding nature between NH+4 and SO2-4 ions changed appreciably with increasing contents of K2SO4. The NH+4(β) ions are preferentially replaced by K+ ions in mixed crystals containing more than 60% K2SO4.
