Abstract
EXAMINED THE SERIAL RECALL OF LISTS OF 6, 10, AND 15 WORDS AFTER FILLED RETENTION INTERVALS OF 0, 3, 9, OR 18 SEC. WITH 96 MALE STUDENTS. RECALL WAS INVERSELY RELATED TO RETENTION INTERVAL; MOST FORGETTING OCCURRED WITHIN 3 SEC. DELAY INTERFERED WITH THE RECALL OF TERMINAL ITEMS FOR EACH LENGTH OF LIST: SERIAL POSITION CURVES SHOWED STRONG PRIMACY AND LITTLE RECENCY VS. THOSE OBTAINED WITH IMMEDIATE RECALL.
