Abstract
MORE than 10 years have elapsed since the initial descriptions of a specific protein in human plasma that binds cortisol (corticosteroid-binding globulin, or CBG) and related adrenal steroids with a high affinity, and in that time much has been learned about the protein and its interaction. The identification of a globulin that binds estradiol and testosterone is a more recent finding, and a firm basis for the existence of this protein was not well established until two or three years ago.
