A Metal Selective Microwave Emissive Detector for Gas Chromatography

Abstract
An oxygen-doped microwave-induced He plasma operated at reduced pressure has been used as a metal selective detector for gas chromatography. The response of this microwave emissive detector was compared to that of the non-selective flame ionization detector. Chromium was separated as a metal chelate using acetylacetone (Hacac), trifluoro-acetylacetone (Htfa), and hexafluoroacetylacetone (Hhfa) as the ligands.
