Abstract
A difference was noted in the frequency of acute appendicitis and the number of appendectomies performed in different phases of the menstrual cycle. The female sex hormones may play an important role in the cause of acute appendicitis. This was further supported by the lower sex specific incidence of acute appendicitis for women in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th decades of life. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
