Abstract
The neglected genus Tomogenius Marseul, 1862, is revived for Saprinus incisus Erichson, 1842; S. ripicola Marseul, 1870 (Australia); S. latipes Broun, 1881; and two new species from New Zealand, T. kuscheli and T. australis. Tomogenius is closely related to Gnathoncus but is distinguished in having two pits on the prosternum.
