The Effect of Safflower Oil on Mycelial Growth of Boletaceae in Submerged Liquid Cultures

Abstract
An agar medium was developed which proved especially useful for isolating cultures of Boletaceae. The addition of small amounts of safflower oil (2.5 mg/l) to liquid media stimulated mycelial growth of species of Boletaceae tested. A major increase in mycelial growth occurred during the 1st wk of shake culture in media to which oil was added.
