Abstract
Erysipelothrix insidiosa, injected intravenously into rabbits, produced a subacute generalized arthritis. The arthritic rabbits exhibited several serological manifestations considered characteristic of human rheumatoid arthritis. There was also hyperplasia of the synovial cells and hypertrophy of the villi, with infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. It is concluded that this experimental condition may provide a model for the study of rheumatoid arthritis. Keywords
