THE PRESSOR RESPONSE OF NORMAL AND HYPERTENSIVE HUMAN SUBJECTS TO TYRAMINE INTRODUCED INTO THE ILEUM

Abstract
Tyramine (para-hydroxy-phenyl-ethylamine) introduced into the ileum by means of small intestinal intubation apparatus produced transient but unequivocal rise in blood pressure especially in the hypertensive group. The response was not sufficiently striking to suggest that hypertensives have a constitutional susceptibility to effects of tyramine.
