Abstract
A simple phenomenological model has been developed for BCC transition metals which considers ion-ion interaction up to second neighbours and electron-ion interaction on the lines of Bhatia theory using an appropriate value for the screening parameter. Volume force has been averaged over the whole Weigner-Seitz sphere. In the present model the ionic lattice is in equilibrium in a medium of electrons. A computation of the phonon dispersion relations for chromium and vanadium gives reasonably good agreement with the experimental results. Keywords
