Social Character and Sensitivity Training

Abstract
Both opponents and proponents of sensitivity training often link the effects of the training experience with inneror other direction. The purpose of this paper was to study a number of sensitivity training groups to see whether there is a shift toward one or the other of these social character types after a one-semester sensitivity training course. Ten groups were given the 1-0 scale-a measure of inner-other-direction-before and after training. There were no significant changes either in means or variances, which indicates that social character may not be one of the variables being affected by the training.
