Abstract
At a time of resurging interest in the use of interdisciplinary health care teams, the experience of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Health Center in south Bronx in developing such teams should be instructive. The inadequacies of traditional physician and nurse training for primary-care team practice are believed to have led to many of the problems the teams experienced. The center has taken steps to help the teams function effectively in their mission—the delivery of quality care to a large inner city population.
