Abstract
This study analyzed scores on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) (Wechsler, 1974) of 560 subjects (189 black, 184 Hispanic; 187 white) to determine if the factor structure was similar across ethnic groups. Results of a two-factor solution yielded highly similar loadings corresponding to the verbal comprehension and perceptual organization factors for all three ethnic groups. Three-factor solutions yielded similar loadings for the Hispanic and white samples but somewhat different loadings for the black subjects. Implications of these data regarding the construct validity as well as suggested uses for the WISC-R are discussed. Keywords
