Abstract
Amorphous boron powders were washed with and then coated with LiF, AP, alcohol, and glycidyl azide polymers (GAP), respectively. Both of the coated and un-coated boron powders were characterized by FT-IR (Transmission and Diffusive Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform), 13C-NMR solid state 11B-NMR, ESCA (electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis), EPMA (electron probe X-ray micro-analyzer), XRD (X-ray diffractometer), respectively. The processibility was evaluated by viscosity measurement of boron powder dispersed in paraffin oil. The results indicate that the boron powder coated with AP or LiF is of physical bonding, and GAP and alcohol are chemically bonded with boron powder. The boron powders coated with GAP and AP may have better processibility than those coated with LiF and alcohol. Keywords
