Abstract
The results of measurements of the conductivities and freezing points of solutions formed by adding chlorine or bromine to solutions of iodic acid and iodine (mole ratioI2/HIO3 = 2.0) in sulfuric acid are reported. The results provide evidence for the formation of the ions ICl2+ and IBr2+ in these solutions. Ultraviolet–visible spectra of the solutions are reported. Keywords
