Abstract
A laboratory method for determining sun protection factors (SPF) [against UV-A and UV-B] in the hairless mouse was developed. The ability of the method to predict the SPF in man was investigated using sunscreen ingredients and finished products with known activities in man. Probably, the hairless mouse can be used to assess sunscreen products although the SPF found appeared slightly higher than that determined in man. Keywords
