Abstract
Amino acid composition of purified crystalline phycoerythrin and phycocyanin were analyzed by column chromatography with use of Dowex 50 and 2. The eluted amounts of amino acids were calculated from respective ninhydrine color values. Both chromoproteins contain less glutamic acid, phenylalanine, leucine and isoleucine, and greater amounts of amide N. Phycoerythrin has a higher content of alanine than phycocyanin. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
