Rhinomucormycosis

Abstract
CERTAIN fungous infections occur as specific entities whereas others appear as a complication of pre-existing infections.1 A specific infection of the nose, paranasal sinuses, orbits and cranial structures is caused by a fungus of the mucorales family and is usually fatal within a few days after onset of the disease. The disease rhinomucormycosis presents certain clinical characteristics that are sufficiently distinctive to establish a diagnosis before the patient dies.
