The determination of oxidized and reduced diphosphopyridine nucleotide and triphosphopyridine nucleotide in animal tissues

Abstract
Sensitive methods were described for the separate determination of DPN+, DPNH, TPN+ and TPNH in animal tissues. These involve coupling reduced coenzymes with their respective cytochrome c reductases and following the rate of reduction of cytochrome c spectrophotometrically. By these methods it is possible to estimate accurately as little as 0.1 [mu]g. DPN or TPN. DPN is present in rat liver mainly in the oxidized form, whereas TPN is present mainly in the reduced form. Average DPN+, DPNH, TPN+ and TPNH values are, respectively, 370, 204, 6 and 205 ug. coenzyme/g liver.
