Abstract
This paper outlines the result of a twenty‐year prospective survey of routine physical examinations in the detection of cancer before the onset of symptoms. Conclusions for the present and suggestions for the future are given, in the hope that past experience will guide our future attack on the reduction of cancer mortality. Keywords
