Abstract
Oxygen supply to brain tissue is a carefully guarded function (1,2), inasmuch as the effects of hypoxia or hyperoxia are promptly compensated by counteracting changes in blood flow and neuronal function (1–6). This physiological “autoregulation” barrier, however, may constitute an impediment to the therapeutic delivery of O2 to imperilled tissue areas under conditions of pathological cerebral ischemia. Keywords
