Abstract
Injection of penicillin is the choice method of therapy for gonorrhea, whether sensitive or resistant to sulfonamide compounds. Too frequently gonorrhea is only one of two or more venereal diseases contracted from a single exposure. Because of the beneficial effect of penicillin on syphilis, thorough and repeated clinical and laboratory studies to rule out syphilis should be pursued before one administers this drug for gonorrhea, as was learned from the following case. REPORT OF A CASE A. C., a white man, aged 22, found a small sore on his penis March 15, 1944. Three weeks prior to this time he had an illicit sexual affair. On the mucous surface of the prepuce there were two small denuded, granular, rather firm erosions with the tendency to bleed on moderate manipulation.
