Abstract
The activity of 90 recently-weaned rats was recorded during their initial experience in the wheel, immediately following 0-, 24-, or 48-hr. food deprivation. Both deprived groups were significantly more active than the non-deprived group, but there was no clear difference between the effect of 24- and of 48-hr. deprivation. The results are compatible with the position that food deprivation exerts a directly energizing influence upon behavior. Keywords
