Abstract
A fairly detailed 'picture' of the scope of information science is presented and discussed, to show the problems involved and the areas of research needed to develop the subject as a science. In particular, the processes occurring in thinking, memory and knowledge are considered as they arise in the production of information by an originator, and in the receipt of information by a user. Keywords
