Abstract
Rubidium nitrate exists in four polymorphic forms in the solid state, three of which (IV, III, and I) have been well characterized. Data are presented, from dilatometric and X‐ray studies, to confirm a rhombohedral symmetry for phase II rather than the tetragonal, suggested by Brown and McLaren (1962). The mechanism of structural changes, at the III → II → I phase transitions, is described. Keywords
