Abstract
The dry matter digestibility of wheat, given alone or supplemented with vitamins, minerals and lipids, was enhanced by all the treatments (in the increasing order by popping, extrusion and flaking). The same effect was observed for N digestibility, but it did not seem to be beneficial since the apparent biological value varied in the opposite direction. No changes were noticed either in the feed conversion ratio or the protein efficiency ratio; the energy yield of the feed was always higher with the treated samples. Flaking improved the digestibility and feed efficiency of maize; the latter were reduced by popping and unaffected by the extrusion treatment. Keywords
