Abstract
The in-plane shear strength and the transverse strength in shear and in tension of composites comprised of elastic-brittle fibers and an elastic perfectly plastic binder are evaluated quantitatively in terms of the matrix yield strength and volume fraction. The results are in the form of bounds obtained by the application of the theo rems of limit analysis of plasticity. Keywords
