Abstract
It has been the purpose of this paper to describe the ways in which the vidicon type of television camera can be fitted to the three different image intensifiers currently available in Britian. The author''s experience of the advantages of this method of examination over conventional fluoroscopy are discussed. Radiation should be substantially reduced in most cases, but in obese patients there is no improvement for gastrointestinal work. A method of filming the image on the television monitor is described. Storage of the televised image is discussed and details are given of one method which has been successfully used by the author. No attempt has been made to evaluate television techniques which employ the image orthicon camera.
