Abstract
An even network of pheromone traps baited with virgin females of Spodoptera littoralis Boisd. was established in Cyprus. By relating trap catches with meteorology it was shown that no major immigration of S. littoralis to Cyprus from surrounding land‐masses had occurred. Direct control of S. littoralis by the synthetic pheromones recently synthesized or the sterile male technique may therefore be possible in such an area of ecological isolation.
