Abstract
A canted Helmholtz coils electromagnet for producing a constant gradient magnetic field is described. Used in conjunction with a sensitive balance, the magnet permits accurate magnetrometry, even at low fields, because the field and field gradient are precisely reproducible. We have measured the complete magnetization curve of a thin ferrimagnetic garnet film. The experimental results confirm a theoretical domain model for uniaxial films. Keywords
