Abstract
We see a significant peak ( GeV, MeV), consistent with a , state, in the mass distribution of the reaction at 7.0 GeV/c. We interpret it as the produced in the reaction [] in deuterium. The production of the is strongly peripheral and favors exchange. A discussion of this peak in terms of a double-Regge-pole exchange mechanism is presented.
