Countertransference Issues in Working with Persons with AIDS

Abstract
In the current AIDS epidemic, social workers must interact with numerous systems—persons diagnosed with AIDS and their friends and families and human services agencies. Subsequently, workers must deal with their responses to such interaction, including countertransference. The authors highlight eight countertransference issues that workers typically confront and present strategies for dealing with these issues.
