Abstract
A strain of Trichophyton persicolor, apparently identical with those isolated from human infections, has been isolated from scaly lesions on the tail of a field vole (Microtus agrestis hirtus). A slightly different strain was isolated from the lesion-free body of a pipistrelle bat (Pipistrellus pipistrellus). It is suggested that T. persicolor ringworm in man originates directly or indirectly from the vole. Keywords
