Abstract
The design of shielded sapphire dielectric resonators, based on rigorous solutions to Maxwell's equations is described. Rayleigh-Ritz and finite element methods were employed for computations of the resonant frequencies, electric energy filling factors, geometrical factors and Q-factors relating to dielectric and conductor losses for such resonant structures. Results of computations have been compared with experiments. Keywords
