Listeria monocytogenesσBContributes to Invasion of Human Intestinal Epithelial Cells

Abstract
The role of σBinListeria monocytogenesinfection of human intestinal epithelial cells was investigated. Invasion defects associated with loss of σBparalleled those of a ΔinlAstrain independently of the σB-dependent P2prfApromoter. Concomitantly, amounts ofinlAtranscript and InlA protein were significantly decreased in the ΔsigBstrain.
