Abstract
A lyophilizedextract (Peduex) derivedfrom children''s urine has been employedasanadsorbingantigentoremove antibodies formed to inactive impurities in gonadotropin antigen- antibody systems. Peduex is devoid of biologically active gonadotropins and is immunologically similar to the urinary extract from a hypophy sectomized patient. Antisera adsorbed with Peduex retain the antibody titer against the biologically active antigen components. The adsorbed antisera are superior to the crude antisera for gel diffusion studies, as the precipitin patterns due to inactive impurities in the antigen preparations are largely eliminated. Until pure antigen preparations are available, this technique of antisera adsorption is a useful method of increasing the specificity of the antigen-antibody systetem. Keywords
