Abstract
To simulate California field conditions, eggs were put into the refrigerator (28-32[degree]F.) at 5 p.m. each day and removed at 7 a.m. to a temp, of 60[degree]F. Refrigerating hatching eggs not over 3 days old for 1-3 successive nights of 14 hrs. each or for 3 nights plus 38 hrs. was not harmful; for 4 successive nights plus 38 hrs. was harmful. A long exposure at 32[degree] would probably be injurious, but the brief periods of low temperature to which hatching eggs are ordinarily exposed in California are not cold enough or long enough to injure. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
