Abstract
In the Sangineto-Cetraro-Intavolata area of the coast range of northwestern Calabria (southern Italy) the diabase-porphyrite series of upper Triassic age has been described for many years as resting stratigraphically upon an upper phyllite series underlain by the Cetraro limestone (Triassic ?). Recent work shows that the upper phyllite series actually is the quartzite flysch of nearby areas, and that in the northern part of the area, the diabase-porphyrite series rests upon the schists below the Cetraro limestone. The Quitzow stratigraphy of the region now must be abandoned and the diabase-porphyrite series placed in a new context.
