Abstract
Synopsis: Ammonites from the Jurassic outcrop nearest to the United Kingdom continental shelf margin have been preserved despite Tertiary thermal metamorphism of, in some cases, pyroxene-hornfels grade. Their redetermination shows lower beds to belong to the Lower Jurassic, Lower Toarcian, falciferum Zone and the higher beds may be of Middle Jurassic, Lower Bajocian (Aalenian), concavum Zone age. Poor preservation and imprecise stratigraphical location of specimens prevent precise comparison of thickness with the sequence of NE Skye where equivalent beds are found in similar sedimentary facies. Keywords
