Abstract
The effect on the liquid structure factor due to the softness of the pair potential is discussed. The behaviour of the correction term to the hard-sphere structure factor due to the softness is investigated and analytically, especially in detail in both the long-wavelength and the short-wavelength limits. The results are consistent with those of the computer simulation by Hansen and Schiff (1973).Keywords
